Why choose a cat to accompany an elderly person?
If you are thinking about adopting a cat, you should know that there are many benefits for older people . Living with a cat has benefits both physically and psychologically, since in addition to being good company, it has been shown to help reduce blood pressure levels , increase serotonin levels and encourages people to stay active and not fall. in apathy and depression.

Although cats have a reputation for being very independent, they are actually De Cell Number very affectionate and attached to the people who take care of them, they want to be cuddled very often and love to be petted. This, without a doubt, makes them an ideal company for older people who live alone and who may fall into depression because they will have a companion at home who will motivate them every day.
Cats are animals of customs and daily habits: they have a routine . Their day is divided into drinking water, eating, washing themselves and taking a nap (they can sleep up to 16 hours a day, in short naps). They normally carry out all their daily activities at the same time and the elderly person who cares for them can easily adapt to these habits and take charge of covering their basic needs.

Cats are very easy to care for pets . When adopting a feline, the person acquires responsibilities such as feeding it, keeping the litter tray clean and giving it affection, but it does not have the same physical demands as caring for a dog. The cat does not need to go for a walk outside several times a day, nor does it require hours of play in the park like dogs, but with 20 to 30 minutes of playing at home they are more than happy.

An elderly person can be responsible for a cat , even if they have reduced mobility, since there are, for example, litter trays that clean themselves as well as automatic feeders and water drinkers. As the basic needs of the pet are met, the caregiver's mission will only be to give it affection.
If you are about to bring a cat to the home of an elderly person, it is very important that you are sure that the animal will be welcome, since some elderly people are very social and are not willing to change their daily habits.

Furthermore, you must be clear about what type of cat is best for the elderly person, whether an adult or a young one, because care is different: an adult cat will be more independent from the beginning and its personality will be easier to decipher, on the other hand, a Young cats will need more attention and will be more hyperactive.
