Google 's recent changes have begun to be noticed on websites that handle sensitive information, especially those where economic transactions are carried out: banking and e-commerce above all. If these pages do not have an updated and valid HTTPS certificate , they will be identified as not secure and that can undoubtedly negatively influence the sales of any e-commerce. That users have a good Internet experience is Google 's main objective , and one of the most important factors to achieve this is security. They themselves have served as an example for a long time by having all their websites with HTTPS (Secure Hypertext Transfer Protocol). With the arrival of Chrome 56 , all websites that store sensitive information (passwords, banking details, personal user data...) have already been labeled as not secure (a red warning triangle will appear next to the website's URL ) if They do not have the corresponding SSL certificate , essential to be able to use HTTPS .

Google, as always, thinks big, little by little extending this control to all websites, including blogs. Is it mandatory to use HTTPS? It is not mandatory, but when a user accesses your page or blog they will find a warning indicating that the website is not secure. And if there is something that worries every Internet user, it is security. If you are an online store this can Phone Number List  affect you even more negatively. Who would leave their bank details on a website marked by Google as Not Secure? How do you get the SSL certificate? You can generally obtain the SSL certificate through your hosting provider, and in most cases they will take care of all the procedures themselves. What should I keep in mind when migrating? For all purposes, changing from HTTP to HTTPS will be considered by Google as a domain transfer in which the URL of the website is changed. This implies that we must ensure that we perform the necessary 301 redirects .

To do this we can do it from the htaccess file . If we do not perform 301 redirects, Google could (surely would) consider that it is a new page with duplicate content (with the corresponding SEO penalty). We must also use Google Search Console to review all internal links to redirect them and verify that they are not broken. We will take advantage of the visit to the Google webmaster platform to register the new domains and update the sitemaps . How does Chrome 56 affect website SEO? Surely pages with SSL and HTTPS will have SEO advantages over those that do not comply with these security standards. At the time of migration, the positioning in the SERPs will be temporarily affected until Google robots return to the page to index it. Some people often use a ping plugin for Google Chrome like Mass Fast Pinger to invite search engine robots to visit the page, but its efficiency is not really proven.
